Privacy and cookies
I count visits. I don't follow you around.
This is a personal site. There are no ads, no accounts and nothing to buy, and nothing about you is sold or shared for marketing. Here is everything it measures.
Visit counts, without cookies
Every page view is recorded by a counter I run myself: the page, the time, and the site you came from if you followed a link. To tell one visitor from another it keeps a scrambled fingerprint made from your IP address, your browser's user agent and a random value that is thrown away whenever the server restarts. Your IP address is never stored, the fingerprint can't be turned back into one, and it stops matching you as soon as that random value changes.
Nothing is saved on your device, so there is nothing to agree to. Search engines and other automated visitors are labelled and left out of the numbers.
Google Analytics, only if you allow it
If you choose “Allow analytics”, Google Analytics sets a couple of cookies (named _ga) so I can see which write-ups people actually read and how they found them. Until you choose, it runs in a cookieless mode that stores nothing on your device. Advertising features are switched off either way.
You can change your mind at any time. Choosing “No thanks” also deletes any Google Analytics cookies already set.
Performance
The site is hosted on Vercel, which reports anonymous, aggregate page-speed and traffic numbers. Those use no cookies and identify no one.
The one thing that is stored on your device
Your cookie choice and your light or dark theme preference are kept in your browser's local storage, so the site doesn't ask again on every page. Neither leaves your device.
